My Grand Vision as President

My first act as President- The American Reconstruction Act, redesigning it as brilliantly and arbitrary as the Brits did to Africa and the Middle East!
-California is divided
-Dakota is merged, or we sell North Dakota to Canada
-Michigan's upper peninsula is given to Wisconsin
-Oklahoma's ridiculous panhandle is ceded to Texas
-DC becomes a state
-NYC, Westchester, and Long Island merge with New Jersey
-Maryland is divided between Delaware, West Virgina, and Virginia
-Idaho's upper peninsula is chopped off and given to Montana

What for? Geographic consistency? As long as you're merging stuff willy nilly, what about RI & CT, VT & NH? Why would you give NYC to NJ? They do have "New York" in their city name. And splitting CA, well, lets not give the texans any more to brag about.

When I was a little kid, I always thought we should draw a flat line from Minnesota to the tip of Maine to even up our northern border. In exchange I thought we'd just give Alaska to the Canadians, but Toronto is half of Canada, so that wouldn't be even. Actually, if we sell Alaska to the Canadians, would that make Palin a Canadian politician, and ineligible to run for US presidency? That might be worth it...

Just because they are the things that annoy me about our country. CT, VT, and NH actually have some real history behind the formation of their state. Aside from Maryland disappearing, no other areas really lose any history.

Why would I give NYC to NJ? Because NYC is far more like NJ than it is like 90% of the rest of geographic NY. Guidos, heavily urbanized, they talk funny, etc. And there is a Kansas City is Missouri.

Per your second thought, I also thought about that as well, oddly enough. I figured the northern tip of Washington should be the same one as the northern tip of Maine.

You would be a very, very unpopular president, considering everyone in NYC loathes NJ.
